Hedfest16 Programme out soon!
HEDFEST is already being talked about across Hull and Holderness! Excitement is building as people anticipate the publication of the Official Entertainment Programme.
Here are some more highlights to tempt you and to help you plan your Hedfest experience.
A new venue for this year’s Hedfest which will ensure busy crowds in Magdalen Gate is the Royal British Legion Club which on Friday and Saturday night will host John Marshall’s Buzz Comedy presenting some of the best rising stars of the comedy world.
Eleven great comedians are appearing at Hedfest, they include:
From Lancashire and a regular on the Blackpool comedy scene, Hedfest brings you Dave Twentyman with his cheeky banter delivering light-hearted gags and stories that you just can’t help relating to. Effortlessly funny and quick on his feet, Dave wins over and endears himself to the toughest of audiences.

Daniel Triscott
Daniel Triscott is a former mathematics student at the University of Bristol, whose comedy is marked by analysis. “I tell calculated, crafted jokes and one-liners, and for me, it’s all about the mechanics of a joke” he recently told his local newspaper in York, the city where he runs the Duke’s Comedy Night. Expect Steven-Wright-esk one liners and short comedic ideas ranging from the subtly surreal to the downright idiotic! A real forensic laughter-maker for Hedfest!
It’s not just the comedy at the British Legion, Saturday afternoon will bring you a mix of acoustic music, poetry and spoken word that will move, animate and excite audiences.
At the Alexandra Hall on Friday night the legendary band from Hull Johnny Pat and The Aces are expected to pack the venue like last year as they take the audience on a nostalgic journey through the magical years of rock and roll.
Also appearing at The Alex will be Sea of Wires an alternative country duo. This Beverley based band has a collection of timeless original songs that will leave you humming the tunes for days afterwards.

Cuba Drive @ Hedfest15
Cuba Drive – what can you say! It’s just a pleasure for Hedfest to welcome back the very popular home-grown band from Hedon. Performing at The Alex on Saturday night, they have everything it takes for a great gig; great music, great songs and great banter with the audience to match!
The Black Delta Movement will pack out the Haven Arms marquee on Friday night. From Hull, BDM have a loyal following of fans and make new ones at every gig! The heavy garage and rock and roll outfit described as ‘neo-psychedelic’ ooze its own kind of black delta love. Get there early, it’ll be busy!
“Probably the best thing to come out of Immingham!” declared one presenter on BBC Radio 1 when referring to the Ming City Rockers. They’ve just recently released their second album Lemon which was recorded in Chicago. Expect to hear some tracks from that. The Ming City Rockers are on a full UK tour and Hedfest is delighted to welcome them! “Packs addictive pop-punk melodies, an exhilarating jolt of unadulterated adrenalin.” – Q Magazine.

Photos of Henry Priestman by Viceversarobbi
St. Augustine’s Church is privileged to kick off its Saturday schedule with Henry Priestman and Les Glover with the gig being special for Henry, the former main songwriter in the band The Christians. It’s something of a homecoming with him having been born only 300 yards away from the church although not having strummed a guitar in Hedon since 1966.
Local singer/songwriter Katie Spencer brings with her a big heart and a unique sound to the church on Friday night (with Rob Peirson playing fretless bass). The former student of South Holderness Technology College is inspired to sing and write by the people and her surroundings in the Yorkshire countryside. She’s in the process of creating her debut album.
The Queen’s Head stage features King’s Horses on Friday with the Hull band creating a varied range of fresh music, with big snares, deep bass and fuzz box guitar. Later that night is Helter a five piece rock and roll group also from Hull who come to HedFest like lots of the acts after playing Hull Sesh the week before.
Saturday expects to see the return of Rivers Johansson with blues, grunge and rock on the evening and again fresh from Sesh, The Froot ’67 with a psychedelic and progressive rock sound.
The Hed’On Inn micropub is taking part in HedFest with acoustic music on the Friday evening and the Saturday.
The Official Programme of Entertainment is expected to be published and available for sale for £1 from Monday 1st August 2016 with all the 100+ performance slots and schedules listed.
