Drop-in to Hedon venues to find out about #HedFest16
A SERIES of drop-in events have been organised to let local people know that #HedFest16 – the Hedon Festival 2016 – is taking place in August.
The informal sessions held at different times of the day and in different places will have information available about the plans for HedFest which takes place on Friday evening 13th August and Saturday 14th August 2016 but crucially will serve to seek volunteers who can help out with these plans.

FR Creative Arts ready to perform at Haven Arms
The Hedon Festival is a FAMILY, MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT event that this year will attract over 100 performers (bands, musicians, comedians, poets and other entertainers) into the town attracting thousands of people. A key feature of HedFest will be the colourful, CARNIVAL PARADE involving hundreds of those people as participants as they dance, samba and parade around Hedon’s streets.
The HedFest Organising Committee is appealing for people to volunteer and help make HedFest 2016 happen. The Drop-In sessions across Hedon are being held to give an opportunity for people to find out more about the festival – and crucially how they can get involved and help.
The sessions take place for 1 hour only (drop in at any time during the hour for a chat) at:
When? | Where? | Time? |
Wednesday 17th February | Pop-in, Alexandra Hall | 9:30 am |
Thursday 18th February | Chatty Couch Coffee Lounge | 2:00 pm |
Thursday 18th February | Hed’On Inn micropub | 5:30 pm |
Friday 19th February | Royal British Legion Club, Concert Room | 7:00 pm |
Sunday 21st February | Haven Arms Restaurant | 5:00 pm |

Wrist band sales – a big job on the day itself!
Needed are festival volunteers who can help with every aspect of organising the festival – that includes people who can help make props (masks, costumes, hats and banners) for the Carnival, those who can knit, sew and crochet for our yarn-bombing campaign, through to road marshalls and event stewards on the day.

Yarn Bombed – can you knit and sew pom-poms?
Chair of the Organising Committee David Thompson said: “By helping out with the festival organisation, you will gain a special insight into how such an event is put together, there is a comradeship and community spirit amongst volunteers that’s just great!
“I hope that people are able to come to one of the sessions. Come buy a drink or coffee at one of our host venues, relax and find out more.”
The drop-in sessions have been organised on different days and at different times, so hopefully there will be one to suit you.
